30.The addition of a small number of light vehicles will very greatly extend the range and speed of operation of a special force. At present, and in the foreseeable future, vehicles can only be got ashore on beaches. The following possibilities should therefore be considered:â
(a) Landing vehicles in specially constructed light landing craft adapted (or cut) for long range operations.
(b) Landing vehicles on small beaches or at fishing or similar harbours which may be
(c) lightly defended, and possibly captured from inland by troops landed elsewhere.
(d) Use of pack animals.
(e) Use of seized enemy or civilian vehicles.
(f) For surf, the use of amphibians.
